La chapelle Saint-Lubin
La présence d’un édifice religieux est ancienne sur ce site. Saint Lubin figure parmi les nombreux ermites évangélisateurs qui ont sillonné le Perche au 6e siècle. Saint Lubin vint fonder une petite chapelle ici-même, à l’emplacement d’un temple païen avant d’être appelé à remplir d’autres obligations, après que le roi l’eut désigné évêque de Chartres. Sa présence marqua la toponymie du petit hameau qui prit le nom de Saint-Lubin-des-Cinq-Fonts, tant pour rendre hommage au prélat que pour rappeler la présence de nombreuses sources.
Saint Lubin Chapel
There has been a religious building here since early times. Saint Lubin was one of many evangelist hermits who travelled around the Perche in the 6th century AC. Saint Lubin founded a small chapel here on the site of a pagan temple before being given other responsibilities when designated bishop of Chartres by the King. The hamlet of Saint Lubin des Cinq Fonts bears his name, also recalling the presence of several “fountains” or springs that he is said to have used to cure eye infections among the local population.
